[Tomb of Pope Benedict XIII]

Engraving that was part of the book Funeral religious pomp of our most holy father Benedict the same very reverend father provincial teacher. Dedicate it to the Most Reverend P.M.F. Thomas Ripoll, by Pedro Venegas, printed in Lima by Juan Joseph Cossio, 1731.
In the aforementioned book the author of the architectural design is not mentioned. Following Estabridis (2002), among other inscriptions on the second and third bodies, the legend at the bottom of the print indicates that the mound was built by order of M.R.P.M.F. Pedro Benegas, prior of the Rosario Convent of Lima. The engraver's signature also appears. In a brief description of the tomb of Pope Benedict XIII, it can be seen that it is made up of three bodies, supported by capital columns decorated with heads on their shaft. In the first body, the papal symbols are placed on a cushion; in the second, the figure of the deceased praying, two angels and the allegories of the four continents; In the third, there is a large crucifix, and the allegory of the Church in the figure of a pontiff with his attributes.
