The print series Gekkō’s Miscellaney wanders through a variety of genres. This print captures a view of a famous place in Tokyo, Inokashira, associated with the water deity Benzaiten. Ōgata Gekkō distinguished himself as a younger artist in the first exhibition of the Painting Appreciation Society (Kangakai) in 1885. He went on to earn prizes at world’s fairs and expositions in both the US and Europe.
