Stefano della Bella is best known as a printmaker. He experimented in a variety of media, constantly improving his technique and producing more than one thousand prints. His etchings treat a wide variety of subjects, including landscapes such as this one created while he lived in Paris from 1639 to 1650. This image depicts a landscape with an antique ruin.
