The great day of the Verdiales in the mountains of Malaga, a coastal province of Andalusia, is the Fiesta Mayor, celebrated annually on 28 December, the anniversary of the Holy Innocents, which is related to the name of "fools" given to the members of the Pandas. This fiesta is a form of culture with an indigenous character, and also serves as a vehicle for recovering and disseminating the city's cultural heritage, which in fact goes beyond the local boundaries and is a cultural embassy of the city at national and international level.
A manifestation of Malaga's popular culture, the verdial comes from the men and women of the countryside and is considered to be the precursor of flamenco, although it is difficult to establish its origins due to a lack of documentation. There is singing, playing and dancing, as in flamenco itself, but accompanied by stringed and percussion instruments. Tradition and joy in their purest form.
