<the storytelling machine> is an interactive media art for audience of all ages. This work randomly arranges images and texts created by the public. This project is connected with workshop proceeded in Gwangju, Korea and Melbourne, Australia. During the workshop, hundreds of people participate in writing and drawing pictures, and <the storytelling machine> shows texts and images they create. The machine selects and designates new animation status in real time, and creates a big story by randomly collecting texts and images.
<the storytelling machine> asks a question about what it would be like living in a culture which communicates through geographical or virtual landscapes and which is connected through digital. This work underscores relationship between people and the environment in which they live and the influence of digital platform on contemporary storytelling.
