British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher visited CERN on 12 August 1982. She saw developments for LEP and visited the UA1 proton-antiproton experiment in the SPS ring. However this was not the first time Mrs. Thatcher has visited CERN. As Minister for Education and Science, she came in 1970.
