Unfinished Quilt

Maria Monroe was working on this quilt around the time her mother died in 1830 and her father came to live with her in New York City. Each diamond on the quilt is unique and Maria's basting stitches are still in the quilt. It is unknown why she never finished it after both of her parents died. The 72 x 80-inch quilt still has the pattern on the back.
