Rodchenko's artistic output shows a wide variety of styles throughout his career. Particularly in the Constructivist period, his new morphological language was changing rapidly. His works included in the Kostakis Collection reflect this expressive diversity. The untitled 1918 represents another group of Rochenko's works, based on the reciprocal functions of simple circular shapes with colours that create contrasts on a uniform chromatic background. Some of these were made between 1918 and 1920 and many are published in Selim O. Khan-Magomedov's monograph on Rochenko. They can be seen as a development of the ruler and dipper drawings of the period 1915-16 and represent an intermediate stage between them and the linear compositions of the following year, such as the " Linearism " of 1920.
