Lalu Prasad Shaw is a painter and printmaker. He completed his education in fine arts at the Government College of Art and Craft in Kolkata. His works were greatly influenced by the pre-independence Company School of art, the traditional Kalighat and the Ajanta cave paintings, Rajasthani and Mughal miniatures, and mural paintings. He is known for his highly stylised portraits of Bengali men and women. Shaw's paintings are incredibly detailed contemporary portraits that combine these styles.
