Sanjay Bhattacharya lives and works in Delhi.

His works are realistic and photographic in their recording of detail. The paintings focus a lot on middle-class homes and areas of Calcutta. He depicts the drama which revolves around people's lives using light and shade with a mesmerising effect. His scenery, too, has a similar treatment.

Sanjay Bhattacharya has exhibited in numerous shows in India & abroad. He won the award at the Second International Asian-European Art Biennale in Ankara, Turkey, in 1988.
