Yin Shoushi (1919-1998) was born in Yixing, Jiangsu Province. In 1933, he joined Yixing Ceramic Vocational School in Jiangsu Province to study pottery and calligraphy and painting. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance against Japan in 1938, he went into exile in Wuhan and entered the Wuchang Art College. Since then, he has devoted himself to the creation of figure painting. He has held Liu Yazi and Yin Shuoshi's Poetry and Painting Exhibition and personal painting exhibition. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he has successively served as vice-chairman of the Inner Mongolia Cultural Federation of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, chairman of the Inner Mongolia Branch of the Chinese Artistic Association, vice-chairman of the Beijing Painting Academy, vice-chairman of the Beijing Cultural Federation, vice-chairman of the Chinese Federation. He has published many works such as Yin Thin Stone Painting Collection. In 1992, he donated his life-long representative works and collections of calligraphy, painting and art treasures to his hometown free of charge.
