The novel "Utopia" by Thomas More founded his own genre in 1516 - the utopian state novel. The frame of his story are the fictive travel experiences of a sailor. He talks about a society that focuses on education and community. Private property and war are abolished. Morus thus criticized the current (English) society and at the same time referred to the potential of change. "Utopia" means "non-place". Already with the choice of the title, Morus made clear that in his story the visionary aspect are the center of attraction.
