Built as a proof-of-concept test aircraft, the “Flying Pancake” is a one-of-a-kind aircraft, which first flew on November 23, 1942. During its 131 flight-test hours, the aircraft performed well but was underpowered with only two 80 hp Continental A-80 engines. The famous aviator Charles Lindbergh, the first to fly solo across the Atlantic, test flew this aircraft on at least one occasion. This aircraft is on long-term loan to the Museum from the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.
