CERN made a vacuum chamber for 'Pluto', DESY's superconducting detection system, which had been installed in PETRA, the German Laboratory's new electron-positron colliding beam machine. This special vacuum chamber will be installed around the interaction region—in fact two vacuum chambers, each 5.4 m long with a diameter ranging between 30 and 90 cm, and a wall thickness ranging between 2.5 and 4 mm. The chambers are made of anticorodal and be capable of containing a very high vacuum.
