A specially printed limited edition book by the artist Ranjani Shettar, comissioned by the Museum of Modern Art's Library Council (New York), Varsha is an accordian folding book, bound in hand-worked metal, which evokes aspects of the sixteen phases of the monsoon and the classical Indian astronomy used to predict it.
The book includes poetry by Bhavabhūti, an eighth-century Indian scholar noted for his poems and plays in Sanksrit, and Rabindranath Tagore.
