A pair of women's red Morocco leather heeled ankle boots with elastic gussets in the sides, 1860-1870. The boots have shaped soles for right and left foot, and square-shaped toes. There are loops of silk/ linen tape at the tops of the front and back, to help pull on the boot. Each boot has a knock-on-heel covered in red leather. The inside of the boots are lined with white cotton. There is evidence from black thread on one of the boots that they were worn with additional embellishments.
