View of Palermo is the most famous and frequently reproduced painting of the landscape painter from Palermo, who had been nicknamed the ‘sun thief’.
The canvas combines Lojacono’s usual care in describing nature’s elements with the view point already experimented by the German painter Carl Rottmann and it gives the landscape the overall effect of being seen from a distant perspective, more specifically from the countryside to the south of Palermo.
