The painting, of medium size and of excellent pictorial quality, is an important historical-documentary and cultural resource for the knowledge of the area of Parma called "Oltretorrente", which in the 19th century saw its urban and social redemption (urban intervention in Via della Salute , construction of the Ospedale degli Incurabili and of the Pazzerelli (hospitals for the sick and the insane), opening of the Barrier of Santa Croce). In fact, on the right side of the church you can see the prospect of the new Hospital (Ospedale degli Incurabili), wanted by the Duchess Maria Luigia for the hospitalization of the poor. This is the work exhibited at the Palazzo del Giardino in 1841 and described by Carlo Malaspina in the magazine Il Facchino: "We meet a painting by Mr. Carmignani which is a perspective copy of our Church in the neighborhood with a number of figures or specks presenting humorously a common brawl. The truth, the ease, the coloring and the proportions with the truth are praised by everyone in this painting, in which the young amateur reveals a happy attitude in his favorite pastime".
