This work by Sanford Ross shows the Mansion's exterior as it looked prior to the Rockefeller's renovations in the 1950s. They removed the grey paint seen here to expose the red bricks underneath. Several sections of porch were also removed.

A native of Newark, New Jersey, Sanford Ross moved to the nearby town of Barnard, Vermont in 1940 where he remained until his death in 1954.
