View of the Port of Ischia

From the privileged point of view from the so-called “Villa dè Bagni”, Gigante accurately frames the new port of Ischia ordered by Ferdinando II, which was previsouly a lake of volcanic origin. Gigante thus delineates the Neapolitan coastline in the background. The white tempera brushstrokes were added later by Gigante to cover some spots on the paper.
