over a shoreline and thousands of miles of ocean waters, the Space Shuttle Discovery orbits Earth at 17,500 miles per hour. In the cargo bay are the Spacehab facility and the Spartan 201 (partially obscured behind the Spacehab). Awaiting its duties with the Spartan is the Canadian-built remote manipulator system (RMS) robot arm in its berthed configuration at right. The
