Virgin and Child enthroned and Saints

The painting was commissioned by Girolamo Stellimauro, a leading figure at the court of the prince bishop Bernardo Cles. Commissioned to honour the memory of his prematurely deceased son, Antonio, the altarpiece was painted by the Vicenza artist Francesco Verla who played a leading role in the passage from late Gothic figurative art to that of the Renaissance in Valle dell'Adige.
