On the façade facing the Douro river – organized in four floors that take advantage of the terraced lands – similarities with architecture of apparatus can be found. The manor-house, in the manner of the Douro estates, occupies the highest and most prominent location of the property, standing out in the landscape. Two flights of stairs emphasize the scale and the apparatus of the façade, highlighting its dominance over the exploitation lands.
