The caretaker's house was converted to a Visitor Center at Bunce Island, a former British slave fort in Sierra Leone as part of a stabilization project. Bunce Island is a National Monument and a premier heritage tourism destination in Sierra Leone especially for African Americans whose ancestors may have been traded through the fort.
