This print is part of Yoshitoshi's famous series "100 Aspects of the Moon" which depicts scenes from traditional Chinese and Japanese history and lore. Given the title, most art historians believe this scene to depict the story of the Chinese General Wu Zixu (c. 490 BC). He was aided by a local fisherman in avenging his father's death by locating the grave of his murderer.
