Wall clock

Margarete Heymann1930

Jewish Museum Berlin

Jewish Museum Berlin
Berlin, Germany

The square wall clock has rounded corners and is decorated with a smooth, uranium-based, orange glaze. The glazed, black numerals on the clock face are protuberant and set in a circle. The voids of the numerals 0, 6 and 8 are filled with the same black glaze and the metal hour and minute hands are colored black. There is a keyhole in the lower half of the clockface and an eight-day clockwork mechanism is attached to the reverse side.

This wall clock was designed by the artist Margarete Heymann-Loebenstein and produced in the Haël-Workshops for Artistic Ceramics, which she ran. See external link for more details.
