Marc Couturier’s work makes the limits of the space disappear by overflowing the walls of the museum. The mural created in situ employs a discarded craft technique, the endless traces being created with silverpoint on a stucco surface. The concentrated and patient gesture involved is also rapid and violent (the artist tries to not lift his hand while drawing). The subtle trace sometimes appears and disappears in diaphanous reflections only to reappear again, depending on the angle and perseverance of the gaze. This pure emanation of beauty, born from nothing and with an undeniable spiritual charge, lends a poetic grace to the place that it occupies and to the materials that it employs.
