A collage composed of a cut-out Hanuman, likely from a Raja Ravi Varma press print, pasted on a painted background. The Hanuman Hriday Bidaran composition featured here, depicts Hanuman tearing his heart and showing Rama and Sita reflected within. In the collage, he is presented within a countryside garden landscape with the sea and a mountain at the rear. Collages such as these, associated with Nathdwara and combining painted backgrounds with cut-outs of figures from popular prints, were hugely in demand around the early to mid-twentieth century. They ususally featured cut-ous from prints produced by the S. S. Brij Basi press.
