Michelle Muchilwa, who prefers to go by Mickie, is a 19-year-old designer and artist from Kenya. A recent graduate of the African Leadership Academy (ALA) and a Diana Award Winner, Mickie’s work is deeply influenced by her love for beauty and detail. Since childhood, she has been captivated by the world around her, striving to capture and interact with its beauty through her art.
Mickie’s artistic practice began as an art student at ALA and includes photography, mixed media, digital art, theatre, and video. Her work often features protest art, challenging conventional perspectives and reimagining the world. Driven by the belief that makers can invent and shape new realities, Mickie uses her art to ask, "Is this the way it has to be? What if it was different?"
Known as “the Woman King,” Mickie’s portfolio reflects her commitment to exploring and highlighting the significance of every living being, past and present.
