This costume was designed by Director Peter Brook for his 1955 production of Titus Andronicus. The dress was worn by Actor Vivien Leigh as the character Lavinia. It is a full-length sleeveless, white, Roman-style dress. Dress has a low neckline and narrow shoulder straps, each decorated with a gold disc. A triangle of fabric and a long train are attached to each shoulder. The skirt of the dress is quite full, with attached white petticoat. The two trains of fabric have a glove attached for the actor's hands. Dress has a belt of gold rope which is tied at the back.
