Dating from the time of Vita Sackville-West, a Pyrus salicifolia ‘Pendula’ shades a statue of the Virgin in the White Garden at Sissinghurst Castle. She begun this garden in the early 1950s by Vita Sackville-West replacing a rose garden laid out c.1932. Photograph by Dr Christopher Thacker.
