The lar gibbon (Hylobates lar) is an endangered species found only in Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand. Also known as the white-handed gibbon, it is known for its distinct white hands and feet. Lar gibbons are territorial. Family groups ward other gibbons off their territories with calls.
