One of the most significant of all U.S. timber species, the white oak’s wood is prized for cabinets, furniture, beams, flooring, and railroad ties. These classic trees provide plenty of shade—and oxygen—to feed humans and plenty of acorns to feed wildlife. It takes a white oak about 100 years to reach a height of 100 feet—and many do.
