The Maharaja of Mysore Saloon was built in 1899 at Banglore workshops of Mysore State Railway on the underframe supplied by M/s Hurst Nelson of U.K. This saloon was a part of a special three coach train used by Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar of Mysore and his family.
The Saloon had problems since it had been exposed to the external atmosphere. This had caused all types of deterioration, i.e., physical, chemical and biological. Corrosion, pitting, flaking were the major problems.
Here you can see the polish has faded out, colour peeling out and deposition of thatch.
