Winter Gardens, Blackpool

Colour postcard showing an entrance to the Winter Gardens, Blackpool. Construction began in 1875, and the Winter Gardens opened in 1878, with elements being added up until 1939. A vast entertainments complex, the Winter Gardens has contained (at various points in its history) a glass roofed winter gardens, theatre, opera house, ballroom, skating rink and giant ferris wheel.
