The Cacerolazo was a form of protest that spread at the speed of sound.

Following a radio announcement informing the public that they would no longer be able to withdraw money from their bank accounts, people spontaneously began to make noise, banging on walls, doors, railings and striking metal objects together.

The piercing sound of pans being clashed together rapidly spread throughout the city, as people began to take to the streets, pans in hand as they marched to the centre of the city where they stormed the congress building. As the protests converged at La Casa Rosada, the president was forced to flee by helicopter.
