Prefectural Preservation of Cultural Property
This guardian dog was enshrined at Nageiredo Hall. Originally it was one of the paired dogs (Agyo and Ungyo), however, it is considered to be Agyo as its extensively damaged mouth is open.
Features such as the slightly small head and lean body presume that it was made in late Heian Period. A recent scientific investigation concluded that its wood was felled in around 1099.
