This is one of Paniker's paintings in the Words and Symbols series done in the 60's. It belongs to the break- through phase of his last series of works. In many of his 'Words & Symbols' paintings, Paniker employed thin vertical and horizontal lines to cordon off space on the surface of the canvas, filling it with inscrutable notes.
