[Left to right] Gajin Fujita, South Cali, 2001; Jeff Burton, Untitled #137 (globe), 2000; Takashi Murakami, Hyakki-Yagyou, 2001
"Radical stylistic diversity was virtually unavoidable. Somehow, it seemed, modernist, post-minimalist, and post-conceptual styles of various flavors and aromas were going to co-exist in the space. Jeff Burton’s photographs, designed to be among, constitute a short discourse on the erotics of surface. Takashi Murakami’s work tests the broad interface of fine art, décor, and design. These works share that space with Japanese-American artist Gajin Fujita's wall graffiti that acknowledge the informing spirit of both Viennese and Venetian traditions in a traditional Hispanic idiom." - Text by Curator Dave Hickey for the exhibition catalog
