A crescent moon showing da Vinci glow.
While part of the disk (about 22.6%) was directly illuminated by the Sun, it was possible to observe details in the brightest area. Several features are observed and identified, namely craters.
The darkest side is also visible: sunlight falling on Earth is partly reflected on the Moon and returns to Earth turning visible the less illuminated part of the Moon.
This image has been highlighted by NASA as the Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD).
