World War II recruit training at the WACA Ground

After 1941 notification was given by the military that the ground was required by the defence forces. Army cricket and football competitions continued and the ground was used for patriotic purposes. In 1942 the Australian Women's Army Service (A.W.A.S.) located to the ground for recruit training.
