This painting was made after Des amoureux dans l’herbe, by Francois Boucher. First drawn with the finger on the mobile screen and then copied to a larger format on the canvas. In the composition, there is a couple and a dog that made a pause for a rest, while someone is braiding flowers on the other’s hair and gets distracted by the appearance of someone else. So, the beauty of the landscape advances on the tension of those gazes crossing. I see certain carelessness portrayed in the original painting and I attempt to recover the freshness of that gesture. The imitation of digital means through painting deals with the idea of ways of representation and the value of the recovery of the gesture. Painting has no other goal than to be made, attempting to make manner and doing advance over thinking. During the transfer from digital to analogic, there is a turning back to recover something. How do we look at a painting and how do we look at a screen?
