The Xacalli Project was built by people who had lost their houses in the 1985 earthquake. This is one of the many proposals by the UAM’s housing workshop that offered community-based alternatives for the city’s reconstruction. As the rest of their works, Xacalli integrates participatory design, flexibility, environmental and cultural contextualization, incremental growth, and attention to its territorial emplacement.
