Brumadinho MG, Brazil

The yautia is an edible Araceae originally from tropical America, with an elevated nutritional value. Its tubers are consumed by traditional populations in several parts of the world, being an important source of energy in the everyday diet. Yet, the consumption of its leaves isn’t very widespread outside Brazil, reason why it is considered a non-conventional food plant (PANCs, in the Portuguese acronym).
