Born in Iragbiji, Nigeria in 1940 Muraina Oyelami began his training at the Oshogbo Art School initiated by Ulli Beier and his wife Georgina Beier. He later specialized in theatre design at the Obafemi Awolowo University. He is known for his easy depictions of Yoruba myth and folklore which he interpreted in bold lines and colours in his works.
The medium he employs vary from pastel or paint on board, paper, or canvas. In this piece he uses bold colours of yellow, red, blue, to depict Yoruba sculptures in abstract form.
