The Nation of Yahweh is an African American religious organization founded by Yahweh ben Yahweh (Hulon Mitchell Jr.) in Miami, Florida, in 1979. An offshoot of the Black Hebrew Israelite Nation, the Nation of Yahweh was known for early revitalization efforts among poor African American communities in the Miami area, but it later encountered controversy due to Mitchell's legal issues, charges of corruption and fraud, and its classification as a black supremacist organization by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Yahweh ben Yahweh and six followers were imprisoned in 1992. Many followers left the Nation's headquarters, called the Temple of Love, and renounced Yahweh and his teachings. He was released from prison in 2001, two years after the Nation began to renew itself. Yahweh passed away in 2007 and the Nation of Yahweh is still active, having spread beyond the Miami area. These flyers, undated but probably from the early 1980s, were likely published by the Temple of Love Publishers and circulated by Yahweh and his followers.
