The Secret Sounds of Spores is an installation that uses live mushrooms to control electromechanical instruments. Using lasers and computer vision, individual spores trigger musical notes as they fall from a mushroom. By surrendering control of the performance to a mushroom, the piece becomes about audience perception and a meditation on composition in general. Commissioned by an alt-W award from New Media Scotland.
