Black Bears
The black bear (Ursus americanus) still lives across North America, from northern Mexico up to Canada. They easily adapt to survive changing climates and ecosystems. Early Ursus species evolved in Eurasia around 5 million years ago, and then crossed into North America over Beringia about 1 million years ago.
