Yoka Star Turban, Guildfordia yoka

This spectacular marine species was originally thought endemic to Japan, but has since also been found in the Philippines. Its long spines are sometimes curled, and in very rare cases missing altogether. It lives in deep water on mud bottoms, where it feeds on detritus.
