The project ZIN in No(o)rd aims to transform the emblematic WTC I & II towers located in the heart of the North Quarter in Brussels, following an ambitious circular agenda. Instead of a simple restoration, the project proposes to use the former structure as a support for major architectural and programmatic transformations. By connecting the existing cores of the two towers with a new volume of 14 double-height floors, the project creates a new condition for the development of a hybrid building mixing oces, housing, a hotel, sports and leisure spaces, retail, and a public greenhouse. The relationship to the city is redefined by opening up the ground floor and multiplying new addresses towards the city and the public space of the North Quarter. The project is thus a response to the surrounding context and future developments, setting new standards for mixed and hybrid metropolitan high-rise buildings.
